We talked to two awesome teachers that have been with Building Blocks for a while to see what they love about working here. ABIGAIL HINKSON
[Building Blocks] What drew you to this field?
[Abigail Hinkson] What drew me to this field of work was my love for working with children and being able to teach them new things.
[BB] What do you love about children?
[AH] What I love about children is that they love to learn and try new things. They are fearless and persistent!
[BB] Why did you choose to join the team at Building Blocks?
[AH] I chose to join the team at Building Blocks because it seemed like an exciting new place I could gain experience at.
[BB] What have you learned since joining our team?
[AH] Since joining the team at Building Blocks I have learned a lot about what it means to be a team player, how to grow relationships with children and parents, and classroom management.
[BB] What do you like about Building Blocks that keeps you coming back each year?
[AH] What I love about Building Blocks that keeps me coming back is the relationships I have gained with the staff, children, and parents. It’s like working in a big family!
[BB] What is the benefit of working here while in school?
[AH] The benefit of working at Building Blocks while I’m in school is getting to try new strategies and techniques I have learned in school. It is a great way to gain experience in the field.
[BB] How has working at Building Blocks helped you further your career?
[AH] Working at Building Blocks has helped me further my career in Early Childhood education by giving me real-life experience. There is only so much you can learn about teaching children by sitting in a classroom. Being able to teach many different ages has helped me immensely.
[BB] Do you have any words of wisdom to encourage someone who is considering joining the Building Blocks family?
[AH] If you join our team at Building Blocks you won’t regret it! You will gain many new friends, gain real-life experience working with children, and learn so much. It was one of the best choices I’ve ever made!

ASHLEY STUBBS
[Building Blocks] What drew you to this field?
[Ashley Stubbs] I’ve always known that I wanted to help children learn and support their growth! Kids are such a great group to work with.
[BB] What do you love about children?
[AS] I love how every single morning the children RUN into BB with the biggest smiles and are ready to take on the world! They are eager to learn and be your best friend.
[BB] Why did you choose to join the team at Building Blocks?
[AS] Building Blocks is more of a family than a team. Everyone is more than willing to help you grow and succeed.
[BB] What have you learned since joining our team?
[AS] Building Blocks helped me learn so much! They let me try new lessons and ideas. Some were epic fails but I was able to get advice and learn from it. Building Blocks taught me how to utilize strengths of my coworkers and be a team.
[BB] What do you like about Building Blocks that keeps you coming back each year?
[AS] It doesn’t matter if it’s your first day or 10th year, the staff and family members are always there to greet you. We have amazing families and students! Our directors always support us and that makes the difference.
[BB] What is the benefit of working here while in school?
[AS] You are able to grow your skills in so many ways! There isn’t a better way to prepare yourself for the classroom other than actually being in one. You learn what works for you and build your confidence.
[BB] How has working at Building Blocks helped you further your career?
[AS] Building Blocks has given me numerous opportunities to take P.D. trainings and learn new curriculums.
[BB] Do you have any words of wisdom to encourage someone considering joining the Building Blocks family?
[AS] Just do it! Be yourself, trust your skills, and enjoy being in a positive environment with great students!
